Pliosaurus brachyspondylus
Etymology
"short vertebra". "The most striking peculiarity of this species is that the anterior cervical vertebrae are even more compressed in the antero-posterior direction than the posterior cervical vertebra...hence we may conclude that the neck was shorter in the Pl. brachyspondylus than in the other Plesiosauri, and it may be inferred that it had a large and heavy head."
